Head Chef

Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School seeks a mature, professional individual as a permanent full-time Head Chef for its Residence. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to the training of professional dancers and dance teachers. The RWB has an on-site residence which houses dancers aged 10 – 20 years.
 
This position reports to the Dean of Residence and is accountable for the leadership and management of the Residence Kitchen and Dining Hall for The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, including the supervision of all Residence Kitchen staff. The Head Chef’s mandate is to contribute to a safe, healthy, supportive environment through the deliverance of food services so that each of the students may pursue their goal of becoming a professional dancer. The Head Chef works closely with the Dean of Residence in matters pertaining to nutrition, health & the well-being of the students. While the prime responsibilities of the Head Chef is the delivery of food services for the students in Residence, opportunities for catering (various receptions, meetings and similar events) also exist.
 
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 5 years in a management position in food services and a knowledge of nutrition requirements for young adults. He/she must also have a Food Handlers’ Certificate Level I and Level I First Aid/CPR. An Inter Provincial Red Seal would be an asset as would past experience working in food services for elite athletes. Basic computer skills are required for completing the functions of the position. An ability to work with others and prioritize workloads is essential. The position requires the successful completion of a criminal record and child abuse registry check.
