Assistant Principal Pianist Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School is accepting applications for an Assistant Principal Pianist. This position reports to the RWB School Principal Pianist and will support that position artistically and administratively. The Assistant Principal Pianist supports the Principal Pianist with administrative tasks pertaining to the School’s music department as required. The Assistant Principal Pianist may also be asked to assist with the auditioning and training of new accompanists and assist with scheduling existing staff within the established School class schedule. The Assistant Principal Pianist plays repertoire for Professional Division performances, rehearsals and examinations. The position may also be required to accompany classes in both the Professional and Recreational Division of the RWBS, either as scheduled or on a substitute basis. The position requires an average of 10 – 20 hours per week with certain periods during the School calendar scheduled higher as per performance schedules. Accordingly, the position is paid hourly. The ideal candidate will be a strong pianist with an extensive background in performance, excellent technique and experience accompanying dance classes. Experience accompanying senior level classes in ballet, pointe, pas de deux and character along with a Bachelor’s degree in Music, ARCT, Licentiate or equivalent is preferred however comparable experience will be considered. The successful candidate must provide documentation verifying the successful completion of a criminal record and child abuse registry check. The RWB School is dedicated to the training of professional dancers and dance teachers through its Professional Division and offering quality dance education to more than 1,000 students aged 3 to adult through its Recreational Division.
