RWB School Pursues New Talent

(Winnipeg, Manitoba; October 1, 2008) – Representatives from Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School will soon be packing their bags and crisscrossing North America in search of up and coming dance professionals. The RWB School’s annual International Audition Tour begins in Regina on October 6, and makes 16 more stops before concluding in Montreal on January 25.

“There is a wealth of talented young artists in North America yearning to reach their full potential and explore their passion for dance,” says Arlene Minkhorst, Director of the RWB School. “The Audition Tour not only brings opportunity to their doorstep, but it holds the exciting possibility that years from now one of these hopefuls could be responsible for igniting the love of dance in a new generation.”

Lending its support is Investors Group, sponsoring the Investors Group National Scholarship Program and the Professional Division Financial Aid Fund.

“Investors Group is very pleased to be able to help young Canadian dancers pursue their dream,” says Richard Irish, Vice-President of Community Affairs and Area marketing at Investors Group. “Training with some of the country’s top instructors is a tremendous opportunity and we are proud to support the world-renowned Royal Winnipeg Ballet in providing these young people with an opportunity to achieve and excel.”

During the Tour, over 1,000 aspiring dancers will audition to gain acceptance into the RWB School Professional Division Summer Session. Countless RWB School graduates go on to have successful dance careers, including RWB Company Principal Dancers Tara Birtwhistle and Vanessa Lawson.

Workshops led by noted RWB School faculty are also offered during the Audition Tour for both dance students and teachers of dance. Those interested in attending the auditions and workshops are encouraged to contact the RWB School at
1-204-957-3452 or visit www.rwbschool.com. Students who are unable to attend the audition sites may audition by mail.

Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Professional Division was founded in 1970 by former RWB Principal Dancer David Moroni, C.M. Internationally recognized as a centre of excellence in dance, the RWB School is a respected training institution for talented students aspiring to become dance professionals.
