Siblings Tristan and Ellen Clark have pranced and twirled their way out of Rockhampton and into the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School.

These bright young local dancers were among 110 students worldwide who participated in a dance intensive workshop in Canada.

The three-week workshop saw Ellen, 14, return on Saturday but Tristan, 16, remained in Canada after being invited to stay for another 12 months.

He is the first male dancer from Rockhampton to be accepted internationally.

Ellen said the workshop was a great experience for her dancing career.

She said they danced every day except Sunday, from 8am to 4pm, and from 8am to noon on Saturday.

The workshop started on August 4 in Winnipeg, Canada.

"We also learnt Spanish and modern dancing — I'd done character before so Spanish wasn't to strange," Ellen said.

"We performed a demonstration for parents before we left of all the the work we learnt."

Ellen said the group also got to participate in activities such as watching a gridiron game, watching basketball and baseball.

She said she had also danced in London last year and planned to audition for the New Zealand ballet this year.

Her dream is to join the Royal Ballet in England one day as she has been dancing since she was two-years-old.

Their mother, Mrs. Clark, said although she will miss Tristan, it was a wonderful opportunity for him.
