Teacher Training Program

The Teacher Training Program is an intensive course designed to enrich knowledge and provide skills required for a career in dance education. Students study elements of technique to develop their ability to teach dance with confidence and sensitivity.

The program is offered as a three-year course but applicants with a professional background may be eligible to graduate within two years.

The program can facilitate the training of recreational and professional teachers, depending upon an applicant’s aptitude and experience.

• Sharing an open rapport and training environment with the world-renowned Royal Winnipeg Ballet Company
  
• Receiving Cecchetti syllabus certification
  Instruction from our dedicated professional staff who have spent over 30 years developing and teaching the Russian technique
  
• Gaining phenomenal teaching experience in different dance disciplines by observing, assisting and teaching the 1,500 students enrolled in the RWB School Recreational and Satellite Programs
  
• The unique opportunity to choreograph and stage original works in the First Steps Choreographic Competition.

The University of Winnipeg, Faculty of Education will recognize the work completed by graduates of the RWB School Teacher Training Program allowing them to designate dance as a teachable minor within a B.Ed from the U of W.

Those interested in auditioning for the Teacher Training Program must do so from June 30 - July 19, 2008. Placement day is June 29, 2008. Applicants must have completed their grade 12 education. Previous dance training is required.
