SATELLITE PROGRAMS

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School Manitoba Hydro Satellite Program provides high quality dance instruction to various communities in rural Manitoba. Offering dance classes for all ages in creative movement, ballet and jazz, this valuable program would not exist without the involvement of dedicated coordinators who volunteer their time to facilitate dance in their communities. Through the Satellite Program, dance students learn skills that will improve their everyday quality of life as well as expand their knowledge and appreciation for dance.

Teachers are selected for each community by the principal of the RWB School Recreational Division, Kelly Bale and the director of the RWB School Teacher Training Program, Johanne Gingras. The Satellite Program provides employment for RWB School teachers as well as work experience for RWB School student teachers, who are students of the RWB School Professional Division Teacher Training Program.

The Satellite Program brings an awareness of dance to Manitoba communities and may be the only opportunity that some students in rural areas have to experience dance, an exposure that may provide them with future possibilities to expand their talents even further.
